Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar (born April 24, 1973 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India) is an Indian cricketer widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. In 2002, Wisden ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time next only to Sir Donald Bradman, and the second greatest one-day international (ODI) batsman of all time next only to Sir Viv Richards. The list was later revised to make him the greatest one-day international (ODI) batsman of all time. In September 2007, Shane Warne, the world-record breaking Australian leg spinner, rated Sachin Tendulkar as the greatest player he has played with or against. Sachin Tendulkar was the only player of the current generation to be included in Bradman's Eleven, the dream team of Sir Donald Bradman, published in his biography. He is sometimes referred to as the Little Master or the Master Blaster. Tendulkar is the highest run scorer in both Test matches and ODIs, and also the batsman with the most centuries in either form of the game. On October 17, 2008, when he surpassed Brian Lara's record for the most runs scored in Test Cricket, he also became the first batsman to score 12,000 runs in that form of the game, having also been the third batsman and first Indian to pass 11,000 runs in Test cricket. He was also the first player to score 10,000 runs in one-day internationals, and also the first player to cross every subsequent 1000-run mark that has been crossed in ODI cricket history. In the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, Tendulkar surpassed Australia's Allan Border to become the player to cross the 50-run mark the most number of times in Test cricket history, and also the second ever player to score 10 Test centuries against Australia, after only Sir Jack Hobbs of England more than 70 years back.[16] Tendulkar has been honored with the Padma Vibhushan award, India's second highest civilian award, and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, India's highest sporting honor.

Yuvraj Singh (born 12 December 1981 in Chandigarh) is a cricketer from India, and the son of former Indian fast bowler and Punjabi movie star Yograj Singh. He has been a member of the Indian cricket team since 2000 (ODIs) and played his first Test match in 2003. He was the vice captain of the ODI team from late-2007 to late-2008. At the 2007 World Twenty20 he hit six sixes in an over against England's Stuart Broad - a feat only performed three times previously in any form of senior cricket, and never previously in an international match between two Test cricket nations. Yuvraj made his One Day International debut against Kenya at Nairobi in 2000, at the ICC KnockOut Trophy. He showed his potential in his second ODI which was against the Australians where he scored a quickfire 84 off 82 balls against a quality pace attack consisting of bowlers like Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee and Jason Gillespie. However, after a lean run of form, he was dropped for the one-dayers against Australia in India in early 2001, but returned later in the year and helped India to victory in a match in Sri Lanka with an unbeaten 98. One of his most memorable innings was a partnership with Mohammad Kaif in the NatWest Series final against England in July 2002 which led India to victory. He was selected and represented India at the 2003 Cricket World Cup. He scored his first century in his fourth season with the Indian team against Bangladesh in 2003. After that he also scored hundreds against Zimbabwe and Australia, including a 139 off 119 balls at the Sydney Cricket Ground. In the Indian Oil Cup 2005, he made 110 (off 114 balls) (his third century) and an important partnership worth 165 runs with Mohammad Kaif, to become the man of the match against West Indies in the last match of the round robin league. After reaching his century, he attracted attention by angry gesticulations to the Indian dressing room, which was postulated to be due to his clashes with team management - Greg Chappell had been appointed as the new Indian coach and he had criticised Yuvraj. He had a good run of form late in 2005 and early in 2006, in the ODI format of the game. He was named as the man of the series in three consecutive series, against South Africa (joint with Graeme Smith), and then against Pakistan and England, in which he scored three centuries and four half-centuries in fifteen matches, which propelled him into the top ten of the ICC ODI batting rankings. During the Pakistan tour, at times when captain and vice-captain Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag were absent, Yuvraj was the on-field captain, indicating that he may be seen as a potential captain. In the next series in the West Indies, Yuvraj hit two fifties in four games, even though India lost the series 4-1. His performance was recognised with his shortlisting by the ICC as one of four nominees for the Internation One Day player of the year award. Yuvraj missed the first game in the series after that, the tri-series against Australia and West Indies in Kuala Lumpur, due to illness and after failing to reach double figures in the following two games, was axed for Mohammed Kaif in the last group match. He showed signs of returning to form in the Champions Trophy, hitting a restrained unbeaten 27 to guide India to victory against England in the opening game after he was recalled in place of Kaif, but a knee injury forced him out of the final group match. He subsequently missed the tour of South Africa and was in doubt for the 2007 Cricket World Cup, but made a faster than expected recovery to play in the ODI series against the West Indies in India in January 2007. He struck a fluent 95 not out from 83 balls in India's final match against Sri Lanka before heading to the World Cup. At the World Cup, Yuvraj only managed one fifty against a lowly Bermuda and along with rest of the squad, was criticised for India's first-round exit. Nevertheless, Yuvraj kept his place in the side for the tours of Bangladesh and Ireland in 2007. In September 2007, he was named as the ODI vice captain of Mahendra Singh Dhoni after the resignation of Rahul Dravid. He then scored 121 in a losing cause during India's One-day International series defeat at the hands of Australia before enjoying a return to form as India beat Pakistan 3-2 on home soil in November 2007 and he was named Man of the series. In the five matches, he scored four half-centuries, although he was fined after showing dissent in the final match in Jaipur. In November 2008, he hit 138 not out from 78 balls against England at Rajkot, taking 64 balls to reach his century, the second fastest by an Indian in ODIs, after Mohammad Azharuddin's century in 1988 against New Zealand came off 62 balls. After reaching 50 from 42 balls, he added a further 88 in the next 36 balls. He did so despite straining his back, which necessitated the use of Gautam Gambhir as a runner. This was followed by 118 from 122 balls and a 4/28all his wickets being specialist batsmenin the next match in Indore, earning him two consecutive man of the match awards. Yuvraj made his Test debut against New Zealand in Mohali in late 2003 in front of his home crowd in Punjab due to the absence of regular captain Sourav Ganguly in the No. 6 position. He was omitted upon Ganguly's return but got another opportunity in the Test team in the 2004 Tour to Pakistan, when Ganguly was again injured. He scored his first Test century in a losing effort against Pakistan in the second Test at Lahore. When Ganguly returned for the third Test, Akash Chopra was dropped and it appeared that the Indian selectors wanted to give him a regular place in the team. He was subsequently played as Virender Sehwag's opening partner, but after two poor matches in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, he was dropped in favour of Gautam Gambhir. He was recalled to the Test team, batting in the No. 6 position for the away series against Zimbabwe in August 2005 after Sachin Tendulkar was sidelined with tennis elbow. He then retained his position in the Test team after Ganguly was axed following a row with coach Greg Chappell. He scored a second Test century in the third and final Test in Pakistan in the series in January 2006, which India again lost. However, Yuvraj has struggled subsequently in 2006, failing to pass 50 in six Tests against England (two, both at home) and the West Indies (four, all away from home). His injury in late 2006 allowed the return of former captain Ganguly to the team, who subsequently top-scored in the series. Yuvraj was included in India's Test squad to face Pakistan in November 2007, but was not included in the playing 11 for the first test. Yuvraj was picked in the 3rd Test due to an injured Sachin Tendulkar. India were 61/4 before he and Sourav Ganguly made a 300 run partnership with Yuvraj recording his highest Test score of 169. He had a very poor Test series against Australia in Indian tour to that country in 200708. After his poor showing in the first two Tests he was dropped for the remainder of the series. Yuvraj scored 85 not out put on an unbroken partnership of 163 with Sachin Tendulkar to defeat England in the First Test at Chennai on 15 December 2008. It was the fourth highest successful run chase in history and the highest in India

Other name(s): Golden Star, Comedy time ganesh
Occupation: Actor
Years active: 2001–present
Spouse(s): Shilpa Barkur (2008 - present)

Ganesh - Brief biography

Ganesh popularly called as "Comedy Time" Ganesh and "Golden Star" Ganesh is a Kannada language film actor. He shot to popularity with 2007 blockbuster Mungaru Male which is one of the biggest hits in South Indian cinema with earnings crossing Rs. 75 crores. He married his maternal relative Shilpa Barkur on February 11, 2008.

Television career of Ganesh:

"Guttu" was Ganesh's first on-camera project (see Films section below). Though it was made as a telefilm in Karnataka, it ran into difficulties getting a timeslot to air, and the frustrated producers played it as a feature in festivals and select theaters in the USA, incurring heavy losses. Ganesh played the hero, Deepak, a hapless software systems analyst, who gets caught up in the ambitious adventure of an NRI girl (played by Chaya Singh) who visits India to try and re-trace her family tree. His flair for comedy and knack for timing showed through in this first role, which caused the Director (Priyabharati) to promote him heavily to directors of many TV series. In his early days, Ganesh bagged a few TV roles by referencing his collaboration with an NRI director.

Vinu of "yadva-tadva" was a less known character that Ganesha played. But he has acted with the same maturity which he showed in "Mungaru Male". It was through that character that Ganesha showed that he is a great mimicry artist by mimicking Dr. Rajkumar, Balanna and others.

He has also acted in popular serial "Vataara" directed by Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar and "Pa Pa Pandu" directed by Sihi Kahi Chandru.

He was a TV artist before, who popularised a television program 'Comedy Time' being telecasted in Udaya TV with his unique gestures and his homely relation he shared with the viewers of the show. The program was telecasted from Monday-Friday at 5PM-5.30PM in the beginning and later at 5.30PM-6PM.

The program concept was like this: viewers have to write a letter to the anchor describing their family and mentioning their telephone number. Then the anchor would call their number, disguising himself as someone else and fool them. After reading each letter a comedy scene from a chosen kannada film was telecasted in the interim. His unique style of greeting the viewers at the start and end of the program was also very popular, especially with children

Following the success of this TV show, and many fans started to call him 'Comedy Time Ganesh'. Many viewers encouraged him to act as a hero in films, and soon became a household name across Karnataka. Although he started acting as a villain debuting in the film Tapori, he later turned out to be comedy actor and acted in quite a few films.

From "Comedy time" Ganesh to "Golden Star" Ganesh:

His first film was "Guttu", a telefilm directed by India's youngest female film director, Priyabharati Joshi, an NRI who came to India with the intention of entering the Indian film industry. Priyabharati offered Ganesh "Guttu" just as he was about to graduate from Adarsh Film Institute, against the advice of industry insiders who criticized her choice of a newcomer with unconventional looks and no industry ties. "Guttu was Ganesh's first time facing the camera, before moving on to his TV career and later, feature films.

Ganesh's first feature wide-release film Chellata which was a moderate success, ran up to 125 days in some theatres. When no other actress showed interest to act against him. Rekha of Chitra fame, who had already acted in quite a few film agreed to act.

Then came the rain, Mungaru Male which was a roaring success. The film was directed by Yograj Bhat and the music was rendered by Mano Murthy. Yograj had narrated the script to Puneeth Rajkumar who rejected it. Ganesh was involved in the script making stage and was curious to act in the movie. He got director Bhat to meet his acquaintance E Krishnappa. Since Krishnappa knew Ganesh (both hailed from Adakamaranahalli, Nelamangala), he agreed to finance the film. Since Yograj Bhat couldn't get dates from any Kannada actress, he signed a relatively unknown actress Sanjana Gandhi. The film's lyrics was penned by Jayant Kaikini and music was composed by part-time music director Mano Murthy. Jayant Kaikini, son of renowned writer late Gourish Kaikini, was a well known columnist and writer. The film was mainly shot during the rainy season, especially in places like Madikeri, Sakaleshpura, Jog falls and Gadag.

The film opened to a good response among the audiences and is on a record breaking spree. It is running 84 shows per day in Bangalore. In remaining parts of Karnataka it is shown 504 times a day ever since the release. The film is expected to garner Rs. 60 crores (US $12million) at the box office The film also released with 150 prints all over Karnataka. It is the only film that is running to packed houses on weekdays in PVR Multiplex for more than one year. The remake rights of the movie were acquired by Mr Suryaprakash Rao of SP Entertainers India Private Limited for Rs. 1.5 crores for Tamil , Telugu combined. Mungaaru Male has finished 25 weeks and is still running houseful and is even the most successful Kannada film till date. Mungaaru Male has earned till now a huge sum of forty crores, the highest till now in the Kannada film Industry. The film received lukewarm to average reviews. Rediff.com awarded three-star (meant quite good) rating and praised its cinematography, technical values and acting only of Ganesh and Anant Nag, but opined that the story was flawed. Nowrunning.com felt that the film lacked a credible story line and gave too much importance to music and song picturisation. Kannada portal Thatskannada.com praised the film for its content, narration and usage of rain as a metaphor for love.

His third film as hero, Hudugaata against Rekha was released on June 8, 2007. It got a good opening with Ganesh's portrayal. His acting was praised by all the reviewers saying, Ganesh has batted brilliantly, on a not so well pitch.

Prithviraj Sukumar - Kerala star's brief biography

The period of youth is turbulent and comes with a rebellious streak - Going against the System - swimming against the flow. Rebellious is his second name. And he is frank almost to the point of brutality. His statements are always hard-hitting. And he is YOUNG!!We are talking about the “new” darling of Malayalam - Prithviraj Sukumaran. [On second thoughts, new may not be the right word as he burst into the scene some 7-8 years ago. Nevertheless..]. He has got a new lease of life after Classmates has rocked the Box Office.

Prithvi made his debut in Nakshathra kannulla Rajakumaran Avanundoru Rajakumari. He did not exactly set the screen on fire. But people started taking notice of him in “Stop Violence”. It was hard to ignore the lanky youth with a good physique and that mean rebellious streak in him - both in front and behind the camera. However it was Nandanam that anointed him as a real hero in a Cinderalla-like love story. As the lover boy, Manu, who falls in love with the servant Balamani. Navya walked away with the honors but Prithvi cemented his place in Malayalam as a hero.

Prithvi always insisted in interviews that he is in the field not for the money, but because he loved acting. [After doing his studies in Sainik School Kazhakkutam, he did his college in Australia and he mentions that he had job offers in hand before he decided to dabble in Movies]

One another advantage he had over other younger heros was that he was tall, had a good moustache [a must attribute for heros for us Mallus] and could do both action and romantic roles with panache. Even though Prithvi’s movies like Swapnakoodu, Vellinakshatram etc met with moderate success, the argument against him was that he couldn’t carry a film on his shoulders alone. He however did show glimpses of his potential in films like Ammakilikkodu .

In between he had his share of gossips. Rumors about his tying the knot with Meera Jasmine was the talk of the town - though both denied it. Then came the AMMA clash. He spoke out against the step-motherly treatment of AMMA towards some of her children and his comments were interpreted as against the superstars and the super directors. It was projected that Prithvi was an arrogant brat and had people saying “Venda Mone Venda Mone” to his antics. It did not take long for him to get a “hidden ban” in AMMA. He had an able ally in Vinayan whose “love” for the superstars was well known. The two joined and a forgettable movie called Sathyam was born. Even though Prithvi did a few stunts sans a dupe - a la Jayan - the movie still could not be saved.

After his offers in Malayalam came to a trickle, he decided to try his luck in Tamil [an anomaly - as normally its the Malayali heroine who feel suffocated by the glamour-less and penniless values in Malayalam and hop-skip-jump to Tamil and shed clothes at the drop of a hat].

Kana Kandein marked his debut and Tamizh Ulagam and Tamil girls especially loved the villain for his acting abilities and looks - though not in the same order. This was followed by Parijatham, a Bhagyaraj movie. The movie also received a good response and Prithvi even had the privilege of sharing the dais with Rajnikanth in one of the promotion events.
Unfortunately for Prithvi, Bhagyaraj wanted to make Parijatham his daughter’s launchpad - Her plump visage eclipsed poor Prithvi in all the posters. Still he had reason to rejoice as he has a few good offers in hand.

Vargam saw Prithvi coming of age. As Solomon, the corrupt officer in the first half and the victim of his own doings in the second, he won accolades of the critics and the masses alike. The movie did average business and producers and directors slowly started taking interest in him. Lal Jose, who was considered the best mate of Dileep [ who was reportedly one of the "enemies" of Prithvi], took the bold step of casting Prithvi as one of the lead heroes in Classmates. The rest is history. And as Balachandran Adiga in Vasthavam, Prithvi has once again proved that he hes here to stay.

Prithvi’s demeanour have irked many and say that he was a chip of the old block. If one could draw an analogy of him with cricket, he could be compared to Shoaib Akthar of Pakistan - Killer looks, rebellious, lovable, extremely talented, brash competitive and irritating people with his shooing from the hip comments. He has a good future ahead of him and there looks to be no stiff competition to him from co-stars of his age. Add a few lessons in Public relations and you have a finished article.
